Thousands Of Flags Fill Utah Park To Honor 9/11 Victims On 25th Anniversary
Thousands of U.S. flags filled the lawns at Sandy City Promenade Park as the Healing Field marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The drone footage, filmed by Chris Williams, shows dense rows of flags stretching across the green lawns, with the Wasatch foothills visible beyond the site.
The 2026 Utah Healing Field features more than 3,000 flags honoring those killed on September 11, 2001. Each flag carries a name and a short biography.
The display also includes a Utah Fallen Field with more than 300 flags honoring Utah officers, first responders and K9s killed in the line of duty.
Williams’ footage shows two large flag fields divided by a path, a circular plaza and nearby civic buildings. Later views reveal the Wasatch Range, a Target store and the surrounding parking lot.
The overhead images capture tight rows of small flags, with some hanging limp while others catch the light. People can also be seen walking among the flags.
The Healing Field was originally started in 2002. Sandy City’s 2026 display runs from September 10 through September 15, with volunteers and Parks & Recreation workers installing and removing more than 3,350 flags.
