Coast Guard Helicopter Hoists Five People and Their Dog From Flooding Fishing Boat Off South Carolina
A Coast Guard helicopter crew winched five people and a dog to safety from a commercial fishing vessel that was taking on water near Winyah Bay, South Carolina.
Footage released by the U.S. Coast Guard shows the view from an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter as a rescue swimmer is lowered toward the choppy water. Survivors in life jackets are lifted one by one in a rescue basket and pulled into the aircraft cabin.
The rescue by an Air Station Savannah aircrew took place on October 28. Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders coordinated the response with Coast Guard Station Georgetown, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and a good Samaritan.
