SpaceX Launches Three Telecom Satellites To Complete SES Constellation
SpaceX launched three telecom satellites into orbit on September 13, carrying the final spacecraft for Luxembourg-based SES’ O3b mPOWER constellation.
A Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 2:49 p.m. EDT, sending the satellites toward medium Earth orbit.
The rocket’s first stage returned to Earth less than nine minutes after liftoff, landing on the SpaceX drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean. The B1080 booster completed its 29th flight.
The three satellites were deployed at an altitude of 5,000 miles over a 14-minute span beginning about 33.5 minutes after launch.
SES already operates 10 O3b mPOWER satellites in medium Earth orbit. The three launched today complete the constellation.
