Wildfire Roars Across Southern Italy As Four Canadairs Battle Advancing Flames

A vast wildfire has been active since the early hours of September 5 in the territory of Fardella, with the area affected by the flames also extending into the territory of Episcopia.

Firefighter teams from Viggianello and Terranova di Pollino are engaged at the scene, alongside civil protection and land reclamation consortium teams.

Two firefighter DOS officers are managing the aerial fleet as part of the firefighting operation. Four Canadair aircraft and two regional helicopters are also involved, dropping water to contain the fire’s advance.

Firefighting and containment operations continue without pause. Monitoring activities are underway across the area to contain fronts that remain active and secure the affected zones.
