Wildfire Explodes Across Spain Hillside As Residents Ordered To Stay Indoors
Firefighters are battling a high-intensity vegetation fire in the Vall d’Infern area of Aiguamurcia in Catalonia.
The blaze has already generated several secondary fire spots as it continues to spread.
Aerial footage shows flames racing up a green hillside while thick columns of smoke rise above dense woodland. Agricultural fields and vineyards can be seen in the foreground as aircraft carry out water drops on both flanks of the fire.
Authorities ordered residents in Ranxos de Bonany, Bon Any, Valldossera, Can Llenes, Mas Gassons, El Mas Vermell and Pontons to remain confined.
The fire has burned more than 114 hectares, most of it forest land.
A total of 32 fire engines and nine helicopters are involved in the response as crews continue working to contain the expanding wildfire.
