Valencia Metro Floods As Water Pours Onto Tracks
Brown floodwater ran along the tracks inside the Mercado metro station as commuters stood on the yellow-edged platform on September 16.
The footage, filmed by X user Sergiollg14, shows water covering the rails before the camera turns toward the tunnel, where water pours down as a train’s headlights appear beneath a red signal.
The poster wrote “Valencia city under orange alert” as Valencia was under an orange rain-and-storm warning that afternoon and night.
Flooding forced Metrovalencia to halt all lines after water entered underground stations. By around 23:00, the entire network had stopped.
Intense bursts of rain were recorded across the area, including about 85 l/m² in l’Eliana. The Generalitat also sent an Es-Alert warning of flood risk.
Metro service restarted on September 17 with delays following overnight repairs. No injuries were reported.
