Two Young Women Rescued By Helicopter After Getting Stranded In Spanish Mountains
Two young women were rescued by mountain specialists after becoming disoriented in difficult terrain near Puerto de la Quesera, between the Spanish provinces of Segovia and Guadalajara, on 12 October.
The emergency call came in at around 4:30 p.m. One of the women was reportedly unable to continue walking because of a possible ankle injury, leaving both stranded in a remote area of the Sierra de Ayllón.
Members of the Civil Guard’s Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group located the women about an hour after the alert. Their position made it dangerous for the helicopter to approach directly.
The rescuers used a helicopter winch to evacuate both women and transport them to safety, completing the operation despite the challenging terrain.
