Two Bodies Found Deep Inside Flood Hit Hydropower Tunnel In Nepal
Footage shows Nepali Army personnel moving through a dark circular concrete hydropower tunnel during a body-recovery operation.
Shallow water covers the tunnel floor as two figures approach through the darkness, one wearing a headlamp. Both wear yellow gloves and use long poles or rods while moving along the tunnel walls.
The operation took place inside the Langtang Khola Hydropower Project tunnel on September 3, 2026. An Army search team recovered two bodies from the tunnel after a joint team entered approximately 150 metres.
Forty-one people associated with the 20 MW project remained unaccounted for.
The search followed an ice-and-rock collapse near Langtang Lirung on August 26, 2026, which sent floodwater and debris down the Lhende Khola into the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli corridor.
Nepali Army units, working alongside other security forces and international tunnel teams, continued operations in blocked hydropower tunnels.
