Thunderstorm Chaos Engulfs Rooftop Pool As Guests Rush For Cover In Brooklyn

Video filmed by X user Oluwasegun Oyetunde shows chaos erupting on the rooftop pool deck of SAA Brooklyn at 154 Scott Avenue in Bushwick/East Williamsburg.

The footage captures guests in swimwear scrambling across the stone-tiled deck surrounding a turquoise pool as powerful gusts from a severe thunderstorm sweep through the open area.

Lounge cushions, coolers, towels, and other loose items are violently lifted and scattered across the rooftop as strong winds push through the venue.

People are seen moving quickly toward glass doors and sheltered areas beneath the modern glass-and-metal roof structure, with some assisting others as the storm intensifies.

A red illuminated “EXIT” sign is visible in the background while debris continues to fly across the deck during the sudden weather shift.

The footage was captured on June 6, 2026, when a strong thunderstorm with winds reaching up to 60 mph struck New York City, turning a routine pool visit into a rapid evacuation at the rooftop location.

No injuries were reported, but the severe downdrafts created a scene of flying objects and urgent movement as guests sought safety indoors.

The event highlights how quickly summer weather conditions can change in the region, disrupting outdoor spaces across the city.
