Three Rescued From Water After Fishing Boat Capsizes In Florida Lagoon
Three people were rescued after a fishing boat capsized at about 9:30 p.m. on September 15 in Mosquito Lagoon near Oak Hill.
New Smyrna Beach Fire Marine 50 launched into the Intracoastal with help from Volusia Sheriff’s Office Air One, the U.S. Coast Guard, Volusia County Fire Rescue and Edgewater Fire-Rescue.
After about 30 minutes, crews located all three occupants in life jackets, holding onto the overturned boat. Radio traffic confirmed visual contact with “three souls in the water.”
Rescuers brought the three people aboard a fireboat and took them to shore. They were evaluated and released with no injuries.
