Three Kittens Rescued From Underground Water Pipe After Nearly Four-Hour Operation
Three kittens trapped about 10 feet underground were rescued after a nearly four-hour operation involving animal shelter staff, firefighters and plumbing specialists in August.
Footage released by the St. George Police Department shows responders from the St. George Animal Shelter, St. George Fire Department and Roto-Rooter Southern Utah working together to flush the kittens from a water pipe near Baker Distribution.
Employees at the distribution company alerted the animal shelter after discovering the kittens were trapped underground. Rescue teams used plumbing equipment to bring the animals out of the pipe, then placed them into carriers.
The operation continued for nearly four hours in the summer heat, with all three kittens eventually extracted safely.
The kittens were later adopted into forever homes, according to the St. George Police Department, which released the rescue footage in October.
