Thousands Of Lula Supporters Pack Rio Metro Stations Ahead Of Copacabana Rally

Crowds of supporters of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva packed metro stations in Rio de Janeiro on 12 October as they traveled to a campaign rally along Copacabana beach ahead of the presidential runoff.

X user Eudesbol filmed the unusually crowded stations in the city’s south zone, where supporters filled platforms, stairways and walkways as they made their way toward the rally on Avenida Atlântica.

The event was organized by Lula allies as part of mobilization ahead of the 25 October runoff against Flávio Bolsonaro. Large crowds occupied several blocks of the beachfront, while metro stations in the area experienced increased passenger volumes.

Lula did not attend the rally, remaining in Brasília for observances marking the Our Lady of Aparecida holiday.
