Parisians Sip Beers on Café Terrace Surrounded by Riot Police

Parisians carried on drinking beer at a café terrace in Paris’s 12th arrondissement on Saturday night, October 31, while surrounded by riot police after clashes at the end of a major protest march.

X user Aurélien Paret filmed the scene on Rue du Charolais, where helmeted officers in full riot gear stand between and around the terrace tables as customers sit with their drinks. Laughter can be heard in the video.

“Unusual scene: Parisians enjoy their beer on a terrace, surrounded by the police,” the filmer wrote.

Earlier, police said several hundred rioters had attacked officers with projectiles near the Porte de Charenton, where the march against the high cost of living ended.
