Sea of Phone Lights Glows Over Dancing Paris Crowd as Clashes Erupt Nearby
Part of a huge protest march kept dancing on Avenue Daumesnil in Paris on Saturday, October 31, holding up phone lights in the dusk, even as clashes broke out nearby.
X user Aurélien Paret filmed the dense crowd filling the avenue in front of a long stone building, with dozens of phone torches shining above people’s heads.
“Part of the march continues the demonstration by dancing on Avenue Daumesnil, while a few scuffles break out nearby,” the filmer wrote.
Paris police said several hundred rioters attacked security forces near the Porte de Charenton, where the march against the high cost of living ended. A gendarme was lightly injured when a Molotov cocktail set his leg on fire.
