Thai Soldiers Carry Elderly Man Through Waist-Deep Floodwater To Rescue Him
Thai soldiers carry an elderly man through waist-deep floodwater and push a stranded vehicle through flooded streets during a major rescue operation.
Daylight footage shows soldiers and residents lifting an older shirtless man from the porch of a raised wooden house and carrying him through the water to an army truck. They help him climb onto the truck before loading a red-and-white motorcycle behind him.
As rain continues to fall, a child watches from the flooded street.
Nighttime footage shows rescuers in orange life vests and blue caps wading through a flooded indoor corridor with flashlights while carrying a refrigerator. They later help additional residents, including an elderly person, off another truck.
In another scene, a line of soldiers pushes a half-submerged silver van through a flooded street as a man in a yellow shirt records the rescue.
The Royal Thai Army said troops from the 2nd Infantry Regiment, King’s Guard, deployed vehicles and personnel through floodwater on September 26 to evacuate residents, move belongings to higher ground and keep Highway 33 open. Camp Chakraphong was also operating as a 24-hour shelter.
