Teacher Hangs From Bridge Demanding Better Working Conditions

Video filmed by X user Felip Sanchez shows a teacher protesting during the ongoing educational strike in Elx, Spain, by hanging from a bridge with a reivindicative banner.

The post caption reads: “Educational strike, a teacher protests hanging with a reivindicative banner.”

In the footage, the teacher is seen suspended in the air while holding a protest banner, carrying out a symbolic and eye-catching action as part of the teachers’ mobilizations.

The scene highlights the determination of strikers to draw public attention to their demands.

The video documents one of the creative protest actions taking place during the indefinite teachers’ strike in the Valencian Community.

Educators have been on strike for weeks, demanding improvements in working conditions, reduced classroom overcrowding, more support staff, less bureaucracy, and better infrastructure for public education.

The strike has included daily demonstrations, encampments in Valencia, including at Plaza de la Virgen, and symbolic actions across the region, including in Elx.

Negotiations with the regional education department remain tense, especially as the strike overlaps with the PAU university entrance exams.
