Severe Flooding Swamps Main Road Through South Padre Island

Significant street flooding covered large sections of PR 100 at South Padre Island following a heavy storm on May 27, 2026.

Video filmed by TxDOT Pharr Texas shows standing water spreading across the roadway, sidewalks, and nearby parking areas as parts of the road become submerged.

The footage captures slow-moving traffic carefully making its way through flooded sections while water continues pooling across the island’s main roadway.

Officials said torrential rainfall overwhelmed the drainage system, leading to temporary flooding along Padre Boulevard.

The video was posted by the Texas Department of Transportation Pharr District account with the caption: “STORM AFTERMATH. Street flooding on PR 100 at South Padre Island.”

The flooding was part of a broader severe weather event that impacted the Rio Grande Valley region.
