A sedan became lodged beneath a loaded tractor-trailer during a traffic collision on eastbound I-10 just east of the Sierra Avenue on-ramp on the morning of August 29, 2026.

The sedan’s sole occupant was trapped inside but remained awake, responsive and talking. Firefighters used specialized equipment to systematically cut away pieces of the vehicle to free the driver.

Video shows San Bernardino County firefighters using hydraulic spreaders, cutters, hoses and cribbing as they remove the sedan’s doors, roof and body panels. Crews work inside and around the crushed cabin before moving the patient onto a stretcher.

Fire engines, a medic unit and a San Bernardino County Urban Search and Rescue truck were also at the scene. On-screen text identifies Medic Engine 76, Medic Truck 77, Rescue 72 and Battalion 118.

The driver was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured. Officials have not released the sedan driver’s identity or a detailed cause of the crash.
