Riot police moved in to break up a crowd outside Spain’s Ministry of Transport in Madrid on Wednesday night, October 28, hours after a high-speed train crash in Toledo province killed at least 68 people.

X user Pan filmed officers starting to push protesters back on the street in front of the ministry. “Police are starting to disperse the protesters,” the filmer wrote.

More than 1,000 people gathered on Paseo de la Castellana to demand that those responsible for the crash in Urda be held to account, in a protest called by far-right groups including Falange and Revuelta, the EFE news agency reported. Protesters chanted against Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Transport Minister Óscar Puente.

Police charged when some participants pushed against the police line, and later used tear gas after flares and objects were thrown, EFE said.
