Rescuers waded through waist-deep, fast-moving floodwater to reach a driver whose vehicle had been swept off Ranch Road 674 near Rocksprings.

Nighttime footage shows one of the rescuers wearing a blue helmet and dark vest with reflective strips as the team moves through the muddy water near the flooded roadway.

Edwards County sheriff’s deputies and the Rocksprings Fire Department responded after the vehicle was washed off the road. The driver was pulled from the floodwater and brought to safety, and was reported to be okay.

The rescue came as heavy rainfall triggered dangerous flooding across the area. The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for central Edwards County, including Rocksprings, with rainfall rates of one to four inches per hour.
