Raging Floodwater Swallows Bridge and Parking Lots as Payson, Arizona, Gets ‘Hammered’
Fast-flowing brown floodwater swept over a bridge and swamped streets and parking lots in Payson, Arizona, as heavy rain hammered northern Arizona on Sunday, November 1.
Footage filmed by X user Teflon Don shows a creek bursting over the East Verde Estates bridge just outside Payson, with muddy water racing past warning signs and through trees.
A second clip, filmed from a car, shows a commercial strip under water, with floodwater covering parking lots and lapping at a drive-thru sign as rain streams down the windscreen.
“Northern Arizona is getting hammered,” the filmer wrote.
Heavy rain caused widespread flooding across northern Arizona, with evacuation orders issued in Cottonwood and Camp Verde, and flooding reported around Payson and Show Low, according to KTAR News.
