Raging Floodwater Surges Past Buildings as Chattanooga Team Rescues Residents
Tennessee–Georgia border, United States – Fast-moving brown floodwater surged past trees, buildings and utility poles as firefighters responded to flooding near McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee.
Footage filmed by Battalion Chief Chris Warren and released by Chattanooga Fire Department shows the swollen waterway rushing past a raised deck, with the lower ground on the opposite side submerged.
The department said a six-person swiftwater team deployed after a mutual aid request early on Thursday, November 5. The team rescued 11 people and two dogs.
Dozens of rescues were carried out by first responders across the affected areas, the department said.
