Helicopter Crew Rescues Two People Stranded by Rising River in Corsica

Corsica, France – A rescue helicopter crew hoisted two people to safety after a sudden rise in a river left them stranded in Corsica.

Footage released by France's Sécurité Civile shows a crew member preparing equipment at the open door of the Dragon 2B helicopter above brown floodwater. A second clip shows a rescuer reaching a yellow vehicle surrounded by the current.

Sécurité Civile said the operation took place on Thursday, November 5, while Corsica was under an orange alert for rain and flooding.

The helicopter crew worked with SIS 2B firefighters to winch the two people out and set them down near fire crews, who took over their care.
