Police Officer Wades Into Raging River To Save Woman Swept Away In Colombia
A police officer waded chest-deep into a fast-rising river in northern Colombia to rescue a 26-year-old woman who was being carried away by the current.
Footage released by Colombia’s National Police on October 14 shows the swollen, muddy river rushing through San Alberto in Cesar department. According to police, the woman fell into the water during a sudden rise in the river, and the officer responded after residents called for help.
The video shows a man tied to a rope standing in the water as people on the bank hold the line, but the current sweeps the woman past him. The officer then pushes into the river without a rope, grabs her and drags her back against the current to the bank.
