Pink Fire Retardant Drops As Crews Battle Pine Fire In California

Firefighters are battling the Pine Fire, a vegetation blaze that started along Highway 71 at Pine Avenue.

A fixed-wing air tanker dropped a long stream of bright pink fire retardant over a charred burn area, with the suppressant spreading across the ground as smoke rose from the fire zone.

CAL FIRE and local agencies responded to the blaze after an initial report of about 3 acres with potential to grow in medium fuels.

Air support, including retardant drops, is being used alongside ground operations while Highway 71 remains closed for safety.
