Firefighters Haul Injured Man From Six-Foot Sinkhole as Pickup Truck Topples In
Phoenix, United States – Firefighters rescued an injured man who fell into a sinkhole in his backyard in Phoenix, Arizona, where a pickup truck had also partly fallen in.
Drone footage released by the Phoenix Fire Department shows a white pickup tilted nose-down into a hole in the dirt, as rescuers in helmets work around it with ropes and wooden supports. A rescue stretcher is laid out nearby, and crews are then seen carrying the man away.
Firefighters were called around 3pm to the area of 24th Street and Thomas Road for reports of a man who fell into the hole, the department said. The man, who was in a hole about six feet deep, had a chest injury and could not get out.
Rescue technicians stabilised the vehicle so it would not fall further before a rescuer went into the hole to bring him out. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
