Firefighters Pull Six People From Vehicles Trapped in Raging Phoenix Wash at Night
Phoenix, United States – Firefighters waded into fast-moving floodwater to rescue six people trapped in vehicles stuck in a wash in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday night, October 30.
Footage released by the Phoenix Fire Department shows rescuers in helmets and life jackets climbing onto a white pickup truck half-submerged in rushing water, as emergency lights flash behind them in the dark.
"Technical rescue members are currently on a water rescue with multiple people trapped near 40th St. and Camelback," the department wrote.
Crews found four vehicles stuck in the wash with six people trapped and used a shallow-water entry technique to bring them out, according to local reports. There were no reported injuries, the department said in an update. All six were evaluated at the scene and declined to go to hospital, local reports said.
