Monster Waves Smash Over Sea Wall and Swamp Isle of Man Seafront as Storm Boelo Strikes
Huge waves exploded over the seafront in Peel on Sunday morning, October 25, sending spray high into the air and flooding the promenade as Storm Boelo swept across the Irish Sea.
X user Alan Myers filmed the waves crashing over the sea wall and railings, soaking benches and pouring across the road while cars drove through the spray. “Peel is a bit wild today,” Myers wrote.
Waves broke over seafronts around the island, including in Peel and Douglas, when high tide arrived late on Sunday morning, and the island’s forecasters had warned of coastal overtopping in Peel. A government spokesperson said crews had worked through the night to clear fallen trees and debris, protect against flooding and restore power.
The storm closed the island’s Mountain Road and disrupted flights, with an amber weather warning still in force on Sunday.
