Massive Smoke Plume Rises Over London As Fire Erupts In Bermondsey

A fire broke out in London on Monday evening, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the sky that was clearly visible from Primrose Hill and other vantage points across the capital.

Video filmed by X user SidolLpa from Primrose Hill captured the dramatic scene. Recorded from the elevated green space, the footage provides a sweeping view across London, with trees and open parkland in the foreground and the city’s skyline stretching into the distance.

The Shard and other high-rise buildings are visible as a prominent column of dark smoke rises from a location southeast of the viewpoint and drifts into the overcast sky. The smoke appeared to originate from the Bermondsey area in southeast London.

Witnesses and social media users quickly drew attention to the large plume as it climbed above the skyline. The incident prompted emergency services to respond.

The footage highlights how the smoke could be seen across a wide area of the city, standing out against both the urban landscape and surrounding green spaces.

No immediate details regarding the cause of the fire or the extent of the incident have been widely confirmed. However, the visible scale of the smoke attracted significant public attention.

Emergency crews are working to bring the fire under control. Further updates are expected as authorities continue to assess the situation.
