Luxury Apartments Worth Millions Of Dollars Destroyed In Andorra Fire
A major fire tore through the unfinished luxury apartment complex La Querola in Ordino, destroying thousands of square meters of housing and parking.
The fire broke out at about 1:45 a.m. on September 22 in one block of the complex and rapidly spread through seven slate buildings containing about 51 to 52 empty luxury units designed after Jean Nouvel.
Video filmed by X user Andorra Twits shows flames tearing through the apartment blocks as smoke rises over the mountainside.
About 10,000 square meters of housing and 12,000 square meters of parking were burned. No injuries were reported.
Fourteen Andorran fire crews and two crews from La Seu d’Urgell sent 34 firefighters to fight the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the nearby forest.
Small flare-ups struck blocks 1 and 4 overnight. By September 23, the fire was under control, with crews expected to declare it out later that day.
Blocks 6 and 7 were largely spared, while block 5 was partly damaged. The cause remains under investigation.
La Querola had been presented in June 2026 and was still unsold when the fire broke out. Its luxury units had been listed for about $2.8 million to more than $7.1 million.
