Looters Strip Barcelona Tech Store as Riots Grip City Centre
Crowds swarmed around a looted electronics store in central Barcelona on Saturday night, October 24, before police vans with flashing blue lights moved in to clear the street.
X user LUX filmed the chaos outside the PcComponentes shop, where people mill around the shattered frontage as boxes and debris litter the pavement and some shout “open them!” as others push toward the doors. Later clips show a line of police vans and motorbikes, lights blazing, sealing off the road. “This was today’s mass looting at PcComponentes,” the filmer wrote.
The looting was part of a night of rioting in the city centre that followed a youth gathering at Plaça de Catalunya called on social media under the slogan “Instituts Indignats”.
Barcelona City Council said 128 people were arrested, 72 of them minors, and 23 shops were vandalised or looted. Fourteen regional police officers were injured.
