Kanlaon Volcano Sends Thick Ash Plume High Above Negros Island
Kanlaon Volcano sent white and gray ash rising from its summit crater at 8:44 a.m. on September 18, with an official crater camera recording the activity.
The ash thickened into a tall column above the two-peaked volcano, while steam escaped from the slopes beneath a blue sky.
Kanlaon has remained under Alert Level 2 through September 2026, with repeated ash emissions recorded by PHIVOLCS. Earlier September events produced plumes reaching 200–600 meters.
No separate bulletin had been published by midday September 18 for this exact 8:44 a.m. ash emission. Same-day reports focused on rain-driven lahar and a debris-dam warning around the volcano.
People have been advised to stay outside the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone.
