Iranian Flags Fill New York Street During Free Iran Rally At UN
A dense crowd filled a tree-lined street near the United Nations on September 22, waving Iranian lion-and-sun flags and singing during a rally calling for political change in Iran. The scene was filmed by Youth for Iran, a youth-led movement supporting the people of Iran.
Many protesters wore matching yellow caps and vests as signs reading “REGIME CHANGE BY IRANIANS” were held above the crowd. A banner featuring Maryam Rajavi appeared near the end of the footage.
The rally was held at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza across from UN headquarters during the General Assembly. Thousands of Iranian-Americans and supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran attended the September 22 gathering, according to organizers.
Organizers called for an end to political executions in Iran and supported the establishment of a democratic republic. Rajavi, the NCRI’s president-elect, addressed the rally remotely.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was in New York for the General Assembly, and a second rally was held on September 23. This footage is from the September 22 anthem and flag march.
