Hooded Rioters Charge Through Tear Gas as Paris Cost-of-Living March Erupts Into Street Battle With Police
Black-clad protesters clashed with riot police near Porte de Vincennes in eastern Paris on Saturday evening, October 24, at the end of a march against the rising cost of living.
X user Aurélien Paret, a video journalist, filmed the confrontation on rain-soaked streets, as hooded protesters ran through clouds of tear gas and lines of helmeted officers charged forward and later held the road.
The march was part of a nationwide day of protests. More than 500 rioters joined the Paris march, police said, and some tried to break into a car dealership on Cours de Vincennes before officers stopped them.
Police said 64 people were arrested in the capital, with 40 held in custody.
