Heavy rain caused flash flooding across the city on Sunday morning, sending water onto roads and prompting multiple emergency calls.

Rain fell at 1–2 inches an hour in places along the I-95 corridor. Rye Fire, Rye Police and DPW responded to water-related calls and rescued motorists from flooded areas.

Police closed Playland Parkway, Midland Avenue at Peck Avenue and Milton Road near the marina as floodwater covered roadways.

A flash-flood warning remained in effect into late morning, with more rain expected. Rye firefighters warned drivers not to enter flooded roads.

By 4 p.m., Rye Police said the flooded roads had reopened. Metro-North and Amtrak reported delays on the New Haven Line, while Playland was closed.
