Fishing In Flooded Ocean City Street: Man Casts Line From Inflatable Tube
A man took street fishing to an unusual level when he cast a fishing line from an inflatable tube floating through floodwater.
The video was filmed by Kenny Fahnestock at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 25, at 9th Street and Edgewater Street. Fahnestock, from Baltimore, was sitting in the tube with his legs in the current, holding a fishing rod as water covered the street.
He reels in his line and smiles as waves push through the flooded roadway, with a white railing and “ONE WAY” signs visible along the street. Teal and gray buildings stand behind him.
Fahnestock said he was in Ocean City for the Oceans Calling Festival, which was canceled due to the storm. Because his hotel room was non-refundable, he decided to stay and make the best of the situation.
As an avid fisherman, Fahnestock said he could not resist the opportunity to do some “street fishing” when the flooding created the chance.
Fahnestock has been fishing for 10 years and runs Charm City Fishing, named after Baltimore’s nickname. He is also part of Amped Up Outdoors, a Maryland professional fishing team that holds events throughout the year.
