Firefighters Cut Through Fence To Free Fox Trapped In Chain-Link Mesh
Firefighters cut through a chain-link fence to free a gray fox that became trapped with its head and one foreleg caught in the mesh on Tuesday, October 6.
Footage posted by the Montecito Fire Department shows Firefighter Charles Spencer holding the fox against the fence while Firefighter Paramedic Shawn Whilt cuts through the mesh around the animal.
The fox’s gray coat and pale throat are visible as it remains caught in the fence, with its head and one foreleg pushed through the wire.
The rescue happened just before 8:30 a.m. in the 800 block of East Mountain Drive. The department said Whilt cut the fence wide enough to free the fox, which was then released on the spot.
