Firefighters Battle Wind Driven Bug Fire Through The Night Near Reno

Firefighters worked through the night on the Bug Fire as windy conditions hampered efforts to keep the flames away from structures.

Nighttime footage shows thick smoke filling the sky as bright orange flames burn along a hillside. A red fire engine is positioned near a house and a smaller building while the fire continues along the ridge.

A helicopter approaches through the smoke with bright lights and drops a stream of water or retardant over the fire.

Additional fire apparatus and trailers remain on the ground as crews continue operations in the Rancho Haven area, about 45 minutes north of Reno.

Ground footage shows firefighters working near intense orange-red flames and dense smoke. A firefighter moves toward the fire line while others in yellow turnout gear handle hoses near red and white fire engines with flashing emergency lights.

The fire remains visible through the heavy haze as crews continue working to keep it away from structures.
