Firefighters Battle Raging Wildfire As Flames Threaten Spanish Village

Video filmed by ATBRIF shows specialized BRIF firefighters working during the Veguellina wildfire near Villafranca del Bierzo. Aerial footage shows a large wildfire sending thick columns of gray and white smoke over rolling hills, dirt roads, and scattered clearings.

Ground footage shows BRIF firefighters in yellow protective gear moving through dense brush and dry vegetation. Crews work around small active flame spots and smoldering areas while light smoke fills the scene.

The footage shows the work of BRIF crews from Iglesuela, who were deployed to help defend the village of San Pedro de Olleros from the advancing wildfire.

On the evening of July 30, 2026, the Veguellina wildfire prompted evacuations of San Pedro de Olleros and nearby Prado de la Somoza earlier that day.
