Firefighter Swings Through Fast-Moving Water To Rescue Man From Las Vegas Tunnel
A Clark County firefighter swung through fast-moving water Monday night, September 28, to rescue a man who had fallen from a bridge into a drainage tunnel in the east Las Vegas Valley.
The rescue happened around 10:04 p.m. near Twain Avenue and Eastern Avenue. The rescuer, wearing a yellow helmet and red life vest, was lowered into the concrete channel on a blue rope and reached the man, who was partly in the water.
The pair swung against the tunnel wall before the rope lifted them clear of the rushing water. The Technical Rescue Team had established a high point after rope bags missed because of the distance and strong current.
The man was found standing in the fast-moving water and was raised from the tunnel without further incident. He was evaluated at the scene and released.
No name was released.
