Eiffel Tower Glows Pink As Huge Crowd Gathers For Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
The Eiffel Tower was illuminated in pink on Wednesday night as a dense crowd gathered at Champ-de-Mars for the launch of France’s annual breast cancer awareness campaign, with X user @sadjannah capturing the scene.
The tower was lit from 8 p.m. to midnight, with white sparkle lights shining across its lattice as the arches glowed pink. A large crowd filled the area, with many people raising their phones to film the landmark.
The annual October campaign is organized with Ruban Rose, with the pink illumination marking its launch. The lighting has been used as the campaign kickoff since 2014.
The evening included a launch event at the foot of the tower, while the Eiffel Tower’s official X account also posted about the pink illumination.
Health Minister Stéphanie Rist said the government wants about 80,000 more women each year to make a screening appointment.
