Heavy rain sent muddy water streaming down a gravel driveway and flooding a yard in Edgewood on Saturday afternoon, October 24, as a second day of storms rolled across central New Mexico.

X user Jai filmed dark clouds building over the rooftops before the rain arrived, writing, “It has finally started to rain in Edgewood. My street is starting to flood and water is running down the driveway.” The footage shows reddish runoff spreading across the ground, pooling along a fence line and carving channels through the gravel as rain lashes the property.

The storms only grew stronger that evening. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque issued a flash flood warning for the Edgewood area from 8:18 p.m. until 11:15 p.m., as 1 to 3 inches of rain fell.

Radar estimates showed about 2.75 inches of rain falling in six hours just south of Edgewood, an amount expected only about once every 100 years at that spot, though the figure is preliminary.
