Double Rainbow and Lightning Light Up Texas Desert Storm as US Army Paladins Roll Through

A vivid double rainbow arched over the desert as lightning flashed through dark storm clouds, framing US Army M109A7 Paladin self-propelled howitzers moving across the scrubland during training in Texas.

Footage released by the US Army shows the desert bathed in an eerie pink and orange glow as the storm rolls in, with the bright main rainbow and a fainter second bow rising from the horizon and lightning lighting up the clouds. The armored vehicles crawl along the skyline below as the heavy sky closes in around them.

The video was filmed on October 16 by Sgt. 1st Class Peralta and shows crews from Copperhead Battery, 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, operating their Paladins “in the heart of a desert storm,” the Army said.

“Whether facing the elements or delivering devastating fires, these artillerymen bring the storm wherever they go,” the Army said in its caption, released on October 28.
