Two deputies revived a young child after she stopped breathing following a swimming pool incident, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies Jordan Stevenson and Connor O’Shields responded to a home around 6 p.m. on May 31 after reports that a young girl had fallen into a swimming pool and was not breathing.

When they arrived, the deputies immediately began CPR and continued life-saving efforts until additional first responders reached the scene.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office praised the deputies’ actions, stating: “Those critical moments that followed could have ended in unimaginable heartbreak,” and credited their “swift actions, training and determination” for giving the child “a chance to keep living her story.”

Officials said the quick response and coordination with other emergency personnel were key factors in the successful revival of the child.
