Darth Vader Shows Up At San Diego Council Meeting To Defend Flock Cameras
A man dressed as Darth Vader appeared before the San Diego City Council to satirically defend the use of Flock cameras, calling them “what the Emperor needs.”
During the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee meeting, the cosplayer urged officials to install Flock cameras in the city.
He said the cameras could “help us find the rebel scum and their hidden base on Hoth.”
“The Emperor is a fan of Flock, and we must continue utilizing Flock technologies so that we can follow and surveil the rebel scum as they move from playground to playground, from playground to pool, from pool to gymnasium, because we all know that the Flock cameras are not only following the license plate readers, they are following children,” the man said.
Darth Vader also gave a personal reason for wanting the cameras: “I need this so I can stalk my ex-girlfriend.”
The cosplayer told council members to use their “Jedi mind trick” to convince the public of the cameras’ importance and said money should be diverted from other public services.
“We do not need parks. We do not need libraries. We do not need daycare centers. We do not need homeless shelters. All we need is money for our Storm Troopers,” he said.
“We will not succumb to the forces of Democratic will. No, this council was elected to serve the police, not the public, and if our Storm Troopers don’t receive all the funding that they deserve, there will be hell to pay with the Emperor, and he is not as forgiving as I.”
