Daring Helicopter Rescue Saves Dog Stranded 2,600 Meters High On Alpine Cliff
Italian firefighters rescued a shepherd dog that had become trapped on a narrow ledge at 2,600 meters on Monte Rocca la Meja in the Cuneo Alps.
The dog had wandered away from its owner and remained stranded for two days. Ground access was impossible, so helicopter rescuers carried out a technical operation on September 14.
Bodycam footage shows rescuers being lowered by winch from the red-and-white Drago 71 helicopter onto the exposed ledge. The team secured the dog in a harness and net before lifting it safely toward the helicopter.
The dog was returned unharmed to its owner.
