Crowds Storm Barcelona Electronics Store in Mass Looting
Crowds of young people poured in and out of a smashed electronics store in central Barcelona on Saturday night, October 24, stripping it of goods as a youth protest spiralled into rioting.
X user LUX filmed the scene outside the PcComponentes shop, where the glass frontage had been shattered and the pavement was littered with debris and empty boxes. Hooded figures crowd around the entrance, some carrying boxes away, as dozens of onlookers film on their phones. “Mass looting at the PcComponentes on Pelai,” the filmer wrote.
Other footage of the raid showed staff trying to pull down the shutters as rioters hurled bar chairs and tables at them, before the workers retreated upstairs. An employee later said the shop was wrecked but nobody was hurt.
Barcelona City Council said 128 people were arrested that night, 72 of them minors, and 23 shops were vandalised or looted after a gathering called on social media under the slogan “Instituts Indignats” turned violent.
