Climber Rescued By Helicopter After Falling From Cliff In Spain
A climber is rescued by helicopter after falling on a steep limestone face when a piece of rock broke loose beneath him.
The Valencia Provincial Fire Consortium’s high-altitude rescue group, GERA, was mobilized with the MV6-R helicopter on September 26 to reach the injured climber in Penya Roja, Xàtiva.
Rescuers descended from the helicopter onto the rocky, scrub-covered slope and treated the injured man, who was wearing a harness and turquoise shirt. A doctor aboard the helicopter attended to his foot injuries before the evacuation.
The climber was secured to the rescue system and lifted toward the helicopter as rescuers guided the operation from the cliff face.
He was then taken to the Alzira helipad for further medical care.
