Bunker Fire Burns More Than 2,000 Acres Near Arms Production Area In Arkansas
The Bunker Fire burned more than 2,000 acres after coming dangerously close to an arms production area in Camden.
The fire did not reach the facility, but the threat prompted firefighting aircraft to attack the blaze from above.
Yellow Air Tractor AT-802 single-engine air tankers flew over pine plantations and dirt roads, dropping material along the fire’s edge. A larger tanker followed, releasing a long pink cloud of retardant over the woods.
The Air Tractor AT-802 is a type used for initial attack on timber and plantation fires, while the pink trail is standard Phos-Chek-style retardant from a larger tanker.
