Bright Fireball Blazes Across Ontario Sky In Dramatic Dashcam Video

Dashcam video filmed by X user Brian captures a bright fireball streaking across the early morning sky in Stouffville, Ontario, at approximately 5:11 a.m. on May 27, 2026.

The footage, recorded from a car stopped at an intersection, shows a brilliant white-orange streak of light suddenly appearing high in the dark predawn sky and moving rapidly from left to right.

Around the six-second mark, the object becomes significantly brighter and appears to fragment slightly near the top right of the frame before fading from view.

The clip was posted with the caption “Was this a fireball? A meteor?”

The video is one of several clear recordings of the same event reported across southern Ontario and parts of western New York that morning.

The American Meteor Society and local weather accounts received dozens of reports describing a bright flash, glowing trail, and possible sonic boom linked to the object.
